LIFE puppets can be filmed
with two different approaches: filming underwater or filming
"dry for wet" (out of water, with water effects
and backgrounds added later).

Working dry for wet can be much less restrictive, while filming
underwater has the advantage of requiring less post-production
work. Many of our Aquatic Puppets here work underwater. Their
construction process resembles that of our dry land animals
with similar mechanics as well.

We've animated our underwater critters with a variety of strategies:
carefully sealed electric motor swim mechanisms hung on fine
monofilament from topside puppeteered floatation tubes, pneumatics,
bungee assists, cable pulls, rod and cable control, hand puppets.

Safety of course is an issue here, and our underwater puppeteers
are PADI certified.
